BYU/UTAH GAME

We went over to my moms for the byu/utah game this year. We had sandwiches, drinks, chips, snacks and all sorts of fun things. It was really fun, and I was so happy that we all could have a fun time even though it was almost split even for byu/utah fans. Analane, Sarah and Dennis are all BYU fans. Megan/Trever, Braydon, Mom and I are all Ute fans.

Since we are a split house hold (Dennis and I), the byu/utah game is rather interesting for us. As a way of respect for each other we try not to rub victories, for either team, in the others face. Thats one way we still can enjoy being together and loving the game. Its actually really nice to have someone who is passionate for the game but is still able to 'stay in line' when it comes to who is better.

This week we spent our Saturday touching up the crib we bought used from a guy Dennis works with. It was in great condition still, but needed a little bit of touch of paint. So we customised it to our liking and put it up. Now my next adventure with Lukes room is to get a matress and a dresser. I'm really excited on how well his room is slowly coming together.

Today after church we invited my cousin Julia over for her 21st birthday. I made her a cake and the cream cheese frosting. Since I work in a deli I have some skill in cake decorating, however I do not have the professional tools that they have to make the cake look spectacular. So with limit time, a warm cake and hardly any tools I attempted at decorating her cake. If anyone knows cake decor you know never to ice a cake while its still heated in any way (because the icing will melt and wont stick to the cake, plus become almost invisible). Ya well today I had no time to wait for the cake cool because I used a heart shaped pan which took double the time to bake as it said on the box. Just my luck, I realized I was low on the red frosting and ran out the second I finished. Since the cake was warm my 'dots' ran down the side and streaked the white frosting. So her cake looked half frosted, with red streaks down the side, but all turned out well and tasted good, even if it did look a little unprofessional...

So for date night this week, we went to a BYU basketball game. Although I am a true Ute fan at heart I love going to games and watching them play even if its BYU. Dennis is a true BYU fan so its nice to be able to sit back and have a little fun and cheer for the same team. I've learned to be okay with cheering for BYU since I grew up in the heart of 'BYU', but being a "U" fan. They are a pretty good team but I cheer for my team when they play BYU. Plus if I didn't learn that, I would've missed out on a lot of fun memories not only with my family/friends but with my husband as well.... anyways...

We went a little early and were able to get a fly swatter, which they were handing out to the first 2,000 people. It was a tight game, which kept the game interesting. It wouldn't have been so close if BYU made the majority of the shots they attempted at. In the end it was good, because they won. When the team you cheer for wins, it always makes the night better.

What also helped the game was each time a cool play happened, such as a steal or BYU would catch a rebound ball the student section would sing: "You got Swatted". They would hold up and wiggle their fly swatters at the same time. I don't know if they planned that but it was fun to see and hear. I admit we did sometimes join in with them as the sang...

Alyssa's 2nd Birthday

Since today was Alyssa's second birthday we got together with Mark and Beth Ann to celebrate yesterday. We went to ColdStone and had some yummy ice cream. Afterwords we strolled the mall to let Alyssa burn off some of the extra 'sugar rush' energy. We had lots of fun and so did Alyssa. Happy 2nd Birthday Alyssa!

Halloween 2008

We thought it would be fun to dress up for halloween again this year. Last year we went as superman and superwomen. This year we went as cop and 'inmate'. We had a great time at moms house with all of the family. Megan and Mom had a ton of great fun halloween ideas that lead to a great party for kids and the adults. We look forward to next year when Luke will be here to participate in the action.

Apple Pie

Dennis and I made our first scratch made pie today. It was quite an adventure. I have never even seen it done either so I was very scared but I was determined to do it. Actually I was so scared I had a somewhat co-worker (the baker in the bakery of the store I work at) make the pie crust just enouph so all I had to do was stick it in the pan. However the rest was up to me and Dennis. We had fresh apples which helped the flavor of the pie as well. It turned out great taste wise and look wise. Next time I will attempted the crust and we will see what happens then.
